I'm guessing I'd have to get my own server as I'm guessing it would be hard to find a site capable of supporting me for a reasonable price. How hard would it be to create one though? How expensive could I expect it to be?

I'd love to hear from someone that has a upload site. I'd probably want to have it be like a megaupload or similar site. Except my tatic would be to having cheaper membership like a dollar or two for a year or so that way more people would want to use my site for uploading versus another site that charges like 10 bucks for only a month of 5 bucks for a day wtf.

They're tricky to control at first, and bandwidth could be all over the place. Although the market is pretty full if you undercut the competition and put your site out there enough you could roll in it. Problem is that people willing to pay for upload sites generally don't have qualms with a few extra bucks, so choosing the right price is a gamble. Ads are always good but some sites go overboard and when you simply want to upload/download they can get in the way

Funnily enough I just finished my upload script yesterday :mamoru:

If you're looking into making it yourself you're going to have to learn a bit more.. PHP is quite a popular way of writing it. The backend is the most important part for uploading as a service. User control/Statistics measurements/Lovely databases etc.
Mine is fairly basic by comparison so I can't be much further help.

Besides, I think there's a fair amount of scripts out there..

I created mine from the ground up. Learned php along the way. It took me a good weekend of work, but I'm happy with it. PM if you want details. :wiggle:
