GUN How hard can it be to reassemble an M1 Garand?

    I found a local guy who has one really cheaply but its all in parts..
    Is this something I should be able to do or should I just not bother?

    shouldn't be too hard. you should be able to find some kind of book on it. if it's cheap enough i'd go for it. how much?

    I guess I cant go wrong. Its been apart for 40 years and its matching numbers :)

    do it. there should be plenty of info online to build it. Plus for 200 bucks, matching numbers, and 40 years unused, id say why not.

    I guess ill try.. Might land up fuckinup and making it full auo :hs:

    sounds like a good deal, should be able to find a pdf or some sort of pictorial on some of the c&r boards, what is it a parts kit and a reciever?

    Naa he bought it froma guy who took it apart and couldnt get it back together.. He has had it for years and gave up

    CMP has detailed assembly instructions. Should not be hard even if it's completely in pieces.

    Wouldn't it be worth it to pay $200 for it then take it to an armorsmith to reassemble?

    There's no such thing as a numbers matching Garand.

    Unless you've specifically gone through and read each drawing number and researched the specific origin to assembly of the rifle.

    But for $200, can't beat it.

    Damn I just bought one of the new-run ones today for 1050... lol.

    too bad mine is .308, and not .30-06

    Shot it yet? I've heard mixed reviews on them, almost bought one awhile back cheap it was a .308 that had the barrel cut down and was being called "tanker model"

    Haven't shot mine yet, but I have shot one of my friend's that he got from the CMP (.30-06 mid you). I too have heard mixed reviews on this 'special' run from springfield. But man.. it is sooo beautiful!
