I'm considering buying one. Although I'm a little nervous about buying it simply because I have never used a circular polisher like it, only random orbit buffers.

What tips can you give me for proper use?

Any other kind of information I can get would be appreciated as well.

You might want to shoot over to Autopia and do a search on rotary use, there are tons of good threads. Regarding the 7428 it's my understanding that while it is a good rotary the Hitachi SP series is slightly better because it's more powerful, slightly less heavy, and has a 5 year warranty. That's not to say the 7428 isn't good (it is, it gets great reviews), just that competition is stiff.

Well, I found someone selling his in new condition for $75. So that's why I ask. He say's it's missing the "round polishing part". I'm trying to figure out whether it's just the pad or if it is the backing plate or what.

That's a deal and a half, I'd take it even if it's the backing plate that's missing, since you'll probably want a new one anyway and they're ~$20.00 online tops (less with pad kits).

I believe Meguiars has rotary videos on their website.

The machine polishing forum at http://autopia.org should have a lot of good information too.

Yeah they have a DVD for SALE but to me it's worth it.
No advertising and it's designed for real-world detailers. I'll be ordering one myself.
