how good are .....

    western digital harddrives..............my last 2 were maxtor they suck ass, neither one lasted more than 2 years. my 80gig just died on me so im in the market. what does OT suggest?

    Hard drives are hard drives for the most part, i've had a lot of friends with Maxtor problems but you'll get failures with any drive eventually.

    WD is usually a good name, i use Segates currently however.

    IBM's in my old PC

    only had one WD not work for me, but i got it from a pc store for free so the original owner musta damaged it :p WD's are great in my opinion.

    i like my WD drives. I got two 250gb hdd both WD and they have worked great.

    I only use WD. I've had every problem with every other brand. :dunno: I've yet to have a WD fail. I've built more systems than I can count.

    For the most part, I think "a hdd is a hdd". But I do definitely lean mostly towards WD.

    IDE/SATA drives aren't built to last all that long. most SCSI drives will last 5+ years though.

    seagate sata = 5 year warranty = teh win.
