I'm here to pose a challenge to any and all car enthusiasts who may have a little time on their hands are looking to prove how car saavy they truly are.

I am interested in purchasing a used car, to replace my SHO. What I'm going to do with my SHO, I'm not quite sure as of yet, however, I'm intent on buying something new-to-me.

Here is the catch, it's not going to be easy. Money is tight, but I'm an excellent negotiator (I've bargained with car salesman to get nearly $2,500 off the price of the car, and then some).

I am willing to spend $5,000.

I'm looking for a sedan, preferably, although a coupe will be considered.

    I prefer an automatic transmission.

I will be commuting quite a lot (hopefully), so low miles and excellent gas mileage is exceptionally important to me.

It needs to be in good to excellent condition.

    Power steering and ABS desired.

Do you have an idea of any model/make of a car that might fit this criteria as a used automobile? I am looking simply for suggestions, not necessarily any specific cars in the area.

I want your car knowledge! Thank you!

    Honda Civic.

Best commuter car there is and it meets all your requirements.

You can get it in an automatic sedan or coupe, get 30mpg, and can pick up a well equipped mid 90s model for about $3-7,000 depending on trim level and options.

I have a 94 Corolla. It gets excellent gas mileage and has required no major repairs throughout its 161023 mile journey. Its still going strong today.

true, but civic's should have more of a resale vaule if she ever decides to sale it off.

Here are some cars you might want to look into more imo.

    Corolla
    civic
    focus
    accord

that's all I can think of right now.
