And how often do you go?

I'm torn between 2 schools. One being ~10 miles away and pretty decent. The other very good but probably more like ~60miles through the city of Atlanta (HORRIBLE traffic) so it would be at least a hour and a half drive. I would like to go 3-4 times a week so I'm worried the drive would kill my motivation after awhile. Just wanting to see what everyone else deals with to get to their school.

My bjj school is like 30 miles away. Sux but what are you going to do? Go to a mcdojo or a nice school.

i talked to someone about this before. If youre new to bjj and going to learn everything fresh a purple or brown belt will teach you the same stuff as a black belt if thats your reasoning behind your "mcdojo" ideas.

if you have that attitude you probably wont learn much anyways :dunno:

The typical white can learn just as much from an intelligent blue as a black. Get the time in, then when you have a good base you can worry about training with someone with a name for himself.

Yea pretty much taught by blue and purple belts at my school. There really good. Brown belts occasionly teach though. I dont feel like paying money to go to a namma karate school or some other type of mcdojo that is only a couple miles a way. Ya dig? Your from Michigan what school do you go to?

I just moved off campus to an apartment so BJJ went from a 15 minute walk to a 20 minute subway ride. Muay thai jumped up to an hour and a half subway ride unless my roommate drives me in which case it takes 20 minutes. God I hate Boston public transportation. Most inefficient system ever.

it's about 15 minutes to both my schools. my main school is gonna be moving a few minutes farther away in the future but I'm not sweating it. I used to drive 30+ minutes to each school before I moved.

I guess like 3 blocks. It's a pretty easy 5 minute drive with 3 traffic lights in between.

When I first saw the website, I was like :eek3: it's right down the street!

I was training once a week with a friend who's certified to teach. He lives about 30 or so minutes away, so around that many miles. He's got some crap going down now though so we're on hiatus and it sucks.
