For lack of a better example:

I don't want something just like that. I have a darker site and am looking to do a lighter glow around the outside. Basically it's a flash banner up top and a single table below. I just want to surround both of them with a nice looking glow effect. I found a couple tutorials but they both looked like dick when actually made. I am not holding myself to CSS only, I just figured it would be a viable solution.

    Any suggestions OT?

Usually done via background images set with specific width and height dimensions in CSS.

do you know of an example site by chance that I can rip off their code etc?

I pretty much fail at website design and anything unique, but can put crap together to get a decent result.

    .

I learned what I know by ripping web pages back in the day. haha.

Trial and error for hours on end.

What something they did? Look at the code/css and figure out how to get it to work for your site.

CSS3? oh wait, that's 5 or more years off to being really useful.
