on a personal note, how do you yourself take care of your tattoo and what to do you put on it, starting with directly after you have it done.

well, i just use lubriderm lotion after i get it done (of course i clean it first)..i don't pick at it, just let the scabs fall off naturally.

and after it's completelly healed, i like to use cocoa butter to keep it moisturized. everytime my tattoos are exposed people always ask me if i just got them done b/c they look new...of course i also use sunblock so the tattoos won't fade.

its a method that a lot of piercers call LITFA

    Leave
    It
    The
    Fuck
    Alone

your body will only as fast as it wants to and no amount of lotions, creams, sprays will make it heal any faster. all my tattoos turn out great. if my skin gets dry after all the scabs are off i may apply some hand lotion but thats about it.

Mine's been on for a couple of years now, but I put lotion on them occasionay. Don't know if it has anything to do with the tattoo or if it's just a really dry spot :o:rofl:

my shop bandages it in some medical blue paper stuff...1 hour after its done I take the bandage off and jump in the shower (very VERY lightly get it wet just to clean it, wash with non scented anti microbial ?? i can't remember fuck it soap), vitamin E + d (or A? I can't remember). Take a shower and apply it lightly 3 times a day for the first 2 days. From the third day on I use lubriderm or whatever NON SCENTED lotion. About 4-5 days later I'm crying in pain trying not to itch the 1 foot area of my ribs that are screaming to be itched :o

never had any scabs, tattoo stays pretty fucking colorful :dunno: i'll stick with it.

use GOOD, WATERPROOF sunscreen when you go outside if it's exposed.

i see well, its been about 3 days now and only where there was alot of red and black concentrated on an area had scabbed up pretty bad and my teacher whose probably got alota tats said they didnt look normal at all, but i took a shower and they just fell off no discoloration or anything, the only problem i have is that the black bled alot like an old tattoo kinda fades into itself, my teacher thought that he may have went too deep. But i have been putting A and D lotion on it a few times a day and it seems to be doing okay i guess. But thanks for the info guys/gals. BTW my tattoo is an altered Mooneyes advertisement of a naked devil chick leaning over an old skool wheel and a redlined tire.

i used vaseline for 4 days right after, washing it really good each day, then after reading up on it, it seemed that vaseline was not the best thing to use, tho my artist said to and she has been tattooing for like 18yrs, so couldntbe that bad...anyway, after that the scabs were pretty much done anyway, so i switched to some lubriderm for about a week and now i dont do anything with it...i know in the summer i will be sure to use sunscreen but other than that i dont think its really necessary to lotion it when its all healed... going for my free touch up dec 1.

a lot of old school artists are stuck in their ways and dont want to change for the better. vaseline will just clog the skin pores and not allow proper healing. a tattoo really shouldnt scab up. it should just slightly flake.
