I was just thinking about this problem myself. I've got some old lens boxes, tripod, etc. just sitting around and was thinking of putting them all in one of those Rubbermaid tubs. If it'll fit, I'll throw my tripod and battery chargers, etc. all in there so everything is in one place and I can take it all with me if I need to.

Seal it up air tight and keep it in a bucket of water, that way dust can't get to it. You may provide a spawning ground for mosquitos though.

Hmm, at first I was just trying to be sarcastic like half of everybody else in here, but it's actually not THAT crazy of an idea if you're insanely obsessive about dust. Better make sure it's sealed really well though if you're crazy enough to actually try it.

Or, you know, you could wrap it in plastic.

not being sarcastic at all...my Canon body and L lenses sit in my domke f2 on the floor of my bedroom next to the laundry basket...flash/filters are in there too. wireless flash triggers are sitting on my nightstand...

my monolight is always set up in my kitchen, portable flashes are in a lowpro bag in my living room

and my nikon body and 50mm 1.4 are usually in my truck, and the two other lenses are in the canon pouch that came with the 17-40 f/4

its kind of f a bitch getting all my shit ready to go shooting, but the essentials are usually in the bag already!

All my gear is in my Dakine Sequence, most all of the time. If I have to take out a flash, or my 70-200, for weight reasons, it goes in a promaster sling bag. I do have all the boxes and crap that my lenses came in...it is sitting in the bottom of my hall closet.
