Framing, focusing on the eyes, getting the right angle, etc. My old P&S was super wide angle and had a flip-out LCD. :o

    framing - crop
focusing on the eyes? - huh?
getting the right angle - have someone else sit down first and set it up for them, then sit the same way. or shoot multiple shots and pick the best one.

If I'm away from the camera, I have to use a remote and that AFs, and I'm using a super low aperture so getting the AF point right on my eyeball (instead of my nose/cheek/etc) is important.

If no one else is available, put something else in the same spot your eyes will be and focus on it.. Then put your eyes where that focus was and you should be good to go

Have someone else push the button once you set everything up. I've tried a couple of times, and it didn't turn out that great.

i usually just set up my tripod and set my fstop at f/5.6 or f/8...if the camera isn't focused on your eyes it shouldn't matter.

Well sure, but it doesn't result in as punchy a photo. Thanks though.
