I've tried vitamin C loading, never seems to work. This time of year I always get bad allergies, then it leads to a sore throat, and 99% of the time, it leads to a sinus infection. I'd like to stop it before it ever starts, any ideas?

Zicam, right when you start getting symptoms. Then continuing it for a couple days after they subside. I like the pills more than the nasal spray.

Shit works like a charm, but you need to follow the directions to the tee. I didnt the first time got sick like a week later.

You might try D3. I take vitamin D3, the sunshine vitamin, and test to keep my blood circulating levels to between 60 to 70ng/ml year round. Haven't had a cold since. And here's an article on how D3 works at flu prevention:

I feel you. I get the same stuff. In fact, I just got over a sinus/upper respiratory infection :wtc:

Still on the anti-biotics from it.

I try to vit-c load. I think it lessens the symptoms but doesn't prevent it. Never tried zicam.

I found that loads of Vit C wasn't working on tougher immune system attacks, even loading up to 5g a day.

I decided to pickup Cold-FX (http://coldfx.com/), which most people here swear by, but didn't get much from it.

However, ever since i've started using Oil of Oregano, i haven't let a cold get past the very early stages.

    oil wins, hands down

There's no way to avoid a cold caused by allergies except by avoiding what you're allergic to. Although you can take some benadryl or some other allergy medicine as soon as you get symptoms to stop it.

i had read studies not long ago that showed that immune system strength plays a huge factor in seasonal allergies.

i've found that in improving my immune system, there's surely a difference.

If i go out and drink all night with little sleep, the next few days alergies go mental

Technically "allergies" are a flaw in your immune system that causes the body to overreact to mundane substances thinking they're germs, so i'm not sure how much temporary boosts in the immune system will help. Improving overall body health helps a lot, but temporary shit like vitamin c loading is a waste of time.

agreed. i never said temporary boosts will help with allergies.

i find vitamin c loading a waste of time with colds too.

Not sure if there's any truth to this, but I have heard that in a healthy person with an immune system functioning normally vitC loading doesn't do much. However, in persons with allergies or other issues that might cause their immune system to not function 100% vitC loading can help reduce severity of the cold.

Not sure how true this is though.
