I need to pick up some new shirts, but whenever I buy a dress shirt, it always fits like shit. I get the room in my shoulders, arm and neck right, but the waist is always like a fucking parachute :ugh: Tried so called athletic cut and fitted shirts, but they don't taper enough. Normal measurements are 16 32/33, 32" waist, 165-170lbs with a boxer build (appropriate as that's what I do). Almost if not all of you have wider lats than I do since you work on size, so how the fuck do you find shirts that fit right?

If you have the money get that shit tailored son.

Otherwise, I typically rock Kenneth Cole or Express MX. Finding shirts that fit the shoulders/arms but does not look too large on the waist is rather difficult though.

However I just got fitted for a couple suits and I'm going to have to have the coats and pants tailored, there's no way around it.

No it's not 16.5 itself but I wear my neck a little bigger so I have some room to breathe.

Looking at your av I'd say that my shoulders are naturally wider, but you have far more mass. The problem is that I don't train for size, so I have no use for big and tall shit, however, I need large lats for power which doesn't help me out when trying to find a shirt.

That makes it sound like I think I'm huge or some shit. What I meant was that if you look at any boxer they all tend to have the same physique type (excluding the heavyweight division). Apply that to a 165lb frame.

go somewhere like Jos A Bank that can customize your shirts. If your build doesn't lend itself to the normal shelf shirt, it might be a good idea to invest in a few at a place like that. Mens Warehouse does that too.

Brooks Brothers shirts are some of the best fitting off the rack shirts I've worn. They pretty much always have a tailor on site and can ususally rush adjustments to same day if needed. I like their atheletic cut shirts and they aren't too expensive at 2 for like 120 or so. Its worth checking out if you are having trouble with off the rack stuff.

Eagle is another brand I like but more because their material is a bit thicker and holds a crease better so you don't look like shit after sitting at your desk for a couple of hours.

Maybe this will help you out then. I used to weigh 245lbs about 18 months ago, but cut down to 170 because I wanted to try fighting at middleweight at 160. I have the same shoulders as I did then, but dropped 10" in waist.

only a handful of people here should actually have a problem with this... just try on different brands/sizes. you'll find something.
