Do you bend over a tiny bit so that you can bring them DBs down in front of your stomach? (Thereby allowing you a little bit more room to create momentum when you're throwing them up)

Or are you 100% straight, holding the DBs by your sides and there's no room to build momentum?

I do them strict until it starts getting heavy then i'll throw a little momentum in there.

Try doing them seated sometimes if you want to reduce the temptation to cheat.

I can use the 45's if I bend over a bit. If I did them strict I'm not sure what I'd be able to do :o

Do you think you're gonna build a better body if you do them strict with less weight, than if you use more weight but cheat a little bit?

First set is standing straight up, weights at sides - rep until form falters.
Second set is standing straight up, weights start in front of me - rep until form falters.
Third set, by far the hardest, is starting with the weights by my ass - I'll only be able to do a few of these, and I'll cheat to get up to 10-12 reps.

Same. But not nearly enough to look like upright rows.
Though my dumbell upright rows almost look like some folks' laterals.

I rarely go over 30-35's of course I always do sets of 10-20 on those. Doing them on cables is good too.

No point really in using a DB thats too heavy and swinging your whole body into it

Or maybe I'm just stronger than you are, in which case I'd actually be doing something right.

yeah, actually you're still doing it wrong. If I wanted to look like a jackass and pretend I'm strong I'd swing the 45's for side raises like you.

I can think of two or three people on this board who MAY need the 45's or higher for legit side raises, and you are not one of them.

    Your opinion matters to me.

Do you feel like calling me out on my shoulder strength?

I'd like to see you do side raises with 45's and no swing.
