How do you decide if you had a good workout or a weak one.

    I know this may seem like a redundant question, but what factors does everybody use to determine if their workout went as planned.

    Is it the pump? sometimes I feel pumped after just one set, sometimes I never get a decent pump going.

    Is it being sore the next day (or two)? Some days I just dont get sore anymore. Am I not working hard enough.

    Is it working til muscle failure? I do this almost every time and Im starting to think that I might be overworking certain groups?

    I lift as hard as I can and usually to (or near) muscle failure. I have a very vague routine that I follow that has worked well for me so far. Should I grab Christophers Routine and live by it?

    I have never understood these post. How about you look at it over a period of time and see if it's working or not. That will tell you if it's a good workout

    When your tried and sore and know you put some numbers up from the last time doing the same work out.

    Not sure I agree with the 'tired and sore'.... especially the 'tired' part.
    I don't think you need to burn yourself to the ground to have had a good or productive workout... though HITters would disagree.

    If I hit the numbers I wanted or more, it was a good owrkout. If I feel sluggish and don't hit the good numbers, shitty workout.

    Since I stopped going to muscle failure I've been getting better results, and PRing more often. My good workouts are when I hit the numbers I needed to or went beyond them.
