My SO's brother is heading over for his first tour of the sandbox, and she asked me to talk to him last night. What do you say? It felt the same as talking to a civilian who never chewed dirt. All I kept wanting to do was smack him and yell "Grow a Fucking Pair, It's your job!"

He's scared about going over, and having to do his job, plus his wife is being a royal bitch. We brought him out here (He is stationed in CA, we live in PA) to get away for a bit, now he is looking for every reason to go back because he doesn't think he has his shit squared away enough to get deployed. I mean if it were me, I'd rather party with my brother & sister and their friends then stay home and be bitched at by a fucked up wife.

Yeah thanks. I just had no clue what to say to him, I more wanted to smack him around then talk to him.

we had a guy like that. We just treated him like any other guy. When we got to haditha he was on chow hall duty for the 1st month. After that month he was kind of chill and understanding of our situation. We had taken casualties within our first week and I think that kicked him in the ass and he realized he had a job to do. His 1st patrol out of the chow hall we were in a major ambush and a sniper bullet wizzed about two inches from his face and hitting the blast shield on his gau-17. After that close call he was so pissed that someone tried to kill him that we never had to worry about him, he was always ready to go out and get some "revenge".

We had a dude crack before in a fire fight, Mission incapable after that, but I just can't figure out a way to tell this kid that he has a job to do and quit whining.
