I'm guessing its by IP but that usually doesn't narrow it down to your City. I tried searching but couldn't find anything. Anyone have a clue?

I think a few of them read cookies but I haven't proved it to myself yet.

Try cleaning all of your cookies out and going to a site and see if it still has your hometown.

Yeah I didn't think cookies from a site could read cookies from another either.

It's correct most of the time I see it on a site.

Its been correct most of the time I see it also. I tried to lookup the information an IP can give but I can only find ISP and a major city, but not my city.
