CA? Call the Attorney General and ask for a special session of the state Assembly.

Head over to Calguns.net and read up.
Basically, you and the buyer need to go to an FFL to complete the transfer.
    It's $35 and they'll hold it for 10 days.

Let me add that if it's a C&R (over 50 years old), you can do it face to face, no transfer required.
If it's to your brother/father, you can do it face to face, no transfer required.

pretty much you just find a buyer and tell them they pay your asking price plus and fees. If they are local then you guys meet up at a ffl to do the transfer. Make sure it is a ffl that is willing to do the transfer as not all FFL like doing this as they make almost no money and one of their employees gets tied up for 1/2 hour.

buyer fills out paperwork and pays fees which is $35+. Really for many places it's more like $65 out the door with the dros and nic. Your done.

If it's a out of town buyer you ship the rifle to their ffl after you receive payment in full. There is some good faith here as the buyer has to trust you to ship the rifle and not just dick him over. Your trusting the place your sending it to is a legit FFL and they are going to process the paperwork correctly. Generally most of the danger is on the buyers side.

Calguns is a good place to sell your rifle. Gunbroker works too.

Other choice is to take your gun to a gunstore like turners and put it on consignment. They will sell the gun for you and take a cut. Your gun might sit there a while unless you have it for a smoking price or it's something that is sought after.

Honestly for a SKS good luck. There is just not as much demand for them with all this OLL stuff now. Everyone wants and is buying AR's and AK's. IIRC good price on a SKS is under $250 now.

Yes. I believe CA is doing MORE to enhance gun rights in this country than any other state, and from behind enemy lines.

    I'll say this:

Getting the 9th Circus to rule that the 2nd is incorporated under the 14th was HUGE. Did you guys go all invasion of the body snatchers over there, and replace the judges with aliens or robots?

Wat? Private party transfers are limited to $35. $25 for DROS and a max of $10 for hassling the dealer.

250 dollars after or before ffl fees?

I think I might just keep it... This all sounds like a pain in the ass. I wanted to sell it to buy an AR15, but then I saw ammo prices for 5.56...
