People rip the games, just to rip the games. There's nothing you can do with them...

    7th cell..

If you finally get past the hard drive, you must then face the problems hidden within the actual system itself. We all know the PS3 is a beast with a hearty 7 cells running under the hood as we brag about this on a daily basis. The problem for hackers is how only 6 of these cells are actually accessible, with the 7th cell access being denied to everyone. Not even game developers have access to this 7th cell. Now why is this cell even there if we can't use it? In a simple sentence, the 7th cell runs the PS3 completely on its own. The cell boots the system up, cracks the codes encrypted in all security branches, and finally keeps the OS running while you play a game or do whatever you normally do. Remember how I talked about the PS3 verifying the HDD in relation to the system? This is where that comes into place. The 7th cell is what verifies everything that needs to be unlocked or encrypted. The 7th cell basically double checks that everything in the PS3 actually belongs to the PS3, so users cannot trade hard drives or share illegal games without the cell noticing and denying access. With the exception of communicating with other cells, this cell cannot be written to or acknowledged by an outside source, making it completely secure from attacks.

hmm thats interesting i wonder if this is sonys ace in the hole? i mean systems are definded by there software sales, if EA sells more games on the PS3 then the 360 they will lean more towards the ps3 even tho there are more 360s on the market, its kinda like the PSP. hardware wise sony sells alot but they sell no games so nobody wants to develope for it.

    ... hmmm

Even if you could soft mod, downloading it would be a bitch. How big is MGS4? 30gb? Secondly, you would need a blu ray burner. Then a single blu ray disk is like 20 bucks. Right now its not really worthwhile to do so especially since 360 mods are easier/cheaper.

Also, in Canada, we have a 90gb cap on internet. Downloading MGS4 with torrent/sharing the file, would probably go up to 35-40gb. Thats half your internet cap in a single download.

i think you're exaggerating the price of bluray media, and you can rent, rip and burn discs to get around the datacap bullshit.

20? Hmm, must have gone down then since I checked. And yeah, you can rent. True enough. Would you need 2 blu ray drives then? Or could you transfer the contents onto your comp and reburn them?

12 bucks a disk... 180 for a writer, 60 for a reader... you'll make your money back after renting and ripping the 6-7th game...

I think it would have been better to just have bought those 7 games... you get the booklets and everything (I personally kinda like stupid shit like that)

not to mention when you buy the games for your system they make money so they are motivated to continue to make games for that system, ie the PSP software drought.
