    Is that the VersionCue shit?

    You can either run the CS installer & remove it completely that way or find the option in AI/PS to turn it off. There might be a preference pane for it too.

    Well, you must be on a MacIntel. My MBP is doing the same shit. The red X is because your version que is not able to update. The only thing I can figure is that it's the new chipset since I installed a brand new, paid for Adobe CS2 Suite and it is buggy as fuck, and version cue will never update.
