Alright so I just got my first laptop, it says it's WiFi enabled but I brought it to school today and it won't get online... my iPhone works just fine so the network is cool. How do I get my laptop to work with wireless internet? Do I need to buy some special modem or something? I figured it wass all internal. Sorry I know shit about computers.

Read the manual, look for a switch on the case that turns the WiFi on. Most laptops have switches to turn the WiFi on/off to save power.

Look for this in the system tray and click on it.

Just go to the IT department and have them help you...

Might not have an IT department... my highschool didn't. Unless he's in college.

I don't see how you managed to get the iPhone to work on WiFi (and not just thru the carrier) but you can't get a laptop's wireless to work.

My laptop doesn't have a wifi on/off switch so others might not either. I get mine to turn on and off by pressing Fn + F2. It should automatically be on though, and on the bottom task bar, it should say something like "wireless network detected."

Yea, just click on the icon in the system tray and connect. Unless his wireless card came with a program that manages the wireless settings and he can't figure that out.
