I recently had cut my intake of soda down from 6-8 cans a day to less than two and I had replaced most of those with fruit juice (10oz bottles). Today I noticed that almost all of the juices (apple, white grape, and orange) contain as much if not significantly more sugar than a can of Coke. All the bottles have the same label that says the only sugar comtained is what is naturally found in the fruit and that each bottle is 100% fruit juice with no added sugar.

So are these just as bad as Coke or is there a good sugar/bad sugar type?

if youre trying to lose significant weight or cut down, i would toss that out the window and drink water. maybe have some blueberries with your oats in the morning and thats it.

    It's still better than coke.

The sugar in coke is either pure sugar or HFCS which digests very fast (simple sugars), at least with the fruit it's mostly fructose which is slightly slower digesting and a bit better. Also, you'll find MUCH more vitamins in the fruit juice.

However, the calories and carbs are still readily present in fruit juice and if you're looking to drop fat I'd cut down on the fruit juice for sure.

I dont know if they sneak shit in but naturally occuring frusctose found in fruit has a very low GI. I've been eating more fruit then ever lately and it doesnt seem to have any negative effect.

Fruit is a combination of glucose and fructose, not just fructose. And eating whole fruit is a lot different from drinking fruit juice. You have to eat a lot of fruit to get the amount of calories that you'd get from drinking one glass of juice, and won't get any of the fiber by drinking juice.

get a juicer make your own juice (with the skins in the mix if you can). all commercial made juice contains no fiber, the most ignored supplement in the bodybuilding/fitness world

I already consume around 60-100 ounces of water a day in addition to the juice,. I drink juice or coke when I want something with flavor. I was looking at Gatorade's G2 it doesnt look like its too bad, 7 grams per 10oz vs 30+ for juice or coke.

then unless your body is begging for calories, i'd stick to a glass of juice for breakfast and keeping to water for the rest of the day.

no need for 5-6 bottles of juice a day.

    Orange Juice
    8 oz (240 ml) Serving
    Sugars, total: 24g
    Calories, total: 110
    Calories from sugar: 96

96 cals * 80oz of juice = 960 cals from just the sugar in juice
