    Im on a tight budget and want a glock. I don't want to pay out the nose for a 19 unless I have to. 17's seem to be pretty affrodable, so how concealable are they?

    It's a bitch. I have a 22, and have concealed it with an OWB holster, but it requires wearing clothes about 2 sizes too large.

    Go with the 19, or even the 26 if you want something really small.

    17 and 19 should be the same price mass market, unless you got a line to some surplus 17's or something.

    The 17 can be concealed if you had to. You will find it a hassle to do daily though.

    I've concealed a full size Glock before, its not the most comfortable, but it can be done. I'd carry a 19 with 17 mags for spares (I do that now with my 26).

    so the concensus is 19 > 17. Whats the differance between a 19 and 26? I'm a glock newb, only stipulation I really have is i want to stay with the 9mm caliber

    I'm a fairly big guy (6'0" 220lbs) and I have a hard time carrying my 22. I usually carry a 27 during the summer, and a 23 when it's cooler and clothes allow. I'm in the market to add a 19... don't think I would even consider a 17 for a CCW. Might pick one up if the price was just too good to pass up, but still wouldn't carry it.

    17 = full size
    19 = compact
    26 = sub-compact

    And to clarify my previous post since you posted about sizes.... 22, 23, 27 are the .40 caliber versions in full, compact, subcompact in that order, but for all intents and purposes, they are the exact same guns on the outside as their 9mm siblings.

    I grabbed my 19 for like $400 used a couple years ago. I'm a fairly small guy, 5'8'' 155 and I have no problem concealing my 19. Most of the time a t-shirt or polo is fine.

    Check summit gunbroker. They usually have good deals on used glocks.

    1. Where are you? When I bought my 17 there was a 19 right next to it for the same price. I bought mine as a plinker so I went with the longer barrel and larger frame.

    2. I find the most difficult part of a handgun to conceal is the grip. I have an XD 40 SC for CC with a pinky extension. With the pinky extension, it might as well be a full size XD IMO.

    All that being said the G17 is roughly .5" larger in length and height. None of us know your body type, so we cant really tell how difficult it would be to conceal. I put my G17 with 33rnd magazine in a Comptac Mtac holster and you couldnt see a thing until I bent over and I am 5'11" and 190 lbs. (I did this as a joke in my living room. I dont carry the G17.)

    I had a difficult time concealing mine. I don't think it's worth it, to be honest.

    It's doable with a good holster and the right clothes, but you would be better off just getting a 19 or 26.

    You can get away with a 17 if you dress around it, position it properly and use a quality holster and belt.

    I'd (well, I did) go 19.

    Personally, I think if you can conceal a 26 IWB you can conceal a 19 as well.

    I know some people were talking about those surplus P6s for concealed carry ... which aren't much smaller than a G17 and carry less than half as much ammunition.
