I was searching the internet for some good mass building workout. Most workout plans I have come across suggested a 3 day workout plan, focusing on 2 body parts per workout day. When i searched and found a couple of pro body builders workout plans, they focused on working each body part twice a week. Why is this? from what i was told if you work each body part twice a week, that is considered over training and can lead to decreases in size. Is this because of all the supplements there taking they can recover quicker.

One reason i ask is because in the winter I have some more free time, and would like to hit the gym more often, but i don't want to over train either.

And I currently work the same bodypart every 4 days so...
and used to hit everybodypart twice per week on an upper/ lower, heavy/ light split. Again...it depends on the intensity and volume with relation to how frequent you can hit each bodypart for the most part.

So you can continue to grow off this routine? I have been working out for about 1 year, and i realized when i hit my chest 2 times a week and that body part grew the fastest and is the most developed over my other body parts. i thought this was because my body wasn't used to working out, so it responded quick because of the training.

feed your body and it'll recover fast enough to work it again sooner.

Most OTer's will probably never get anywhere near over training. If anything, they're under training. (myself included)

Lift, eat, sleep. Rinse and repeat.

You cut the volume in half per workout so you're still roughly doing the same total volume. So if you normally did 12 sets per bodypart once a week, you would do about 6 sets twice a week.

Isn't the idea to wear the muscle way down, then allow it to recover fully, rinse and repeat? Doing half my "full" workout wouldn't get me anywhere near worn down. :dunno:

You're doing half + half later = full.
