COMIC How can I tell if an older marvel comic (1984) is a 2nd print

I'm on eBay looking at Marvel Transformers from 1984 but there are two covers. One has a bar code the other has a black head of spider man.

I've been searching with google trying to find a reference to 2nd prints and what if any variation on the cover would identify it as such.

Is the spider man picture indication of a reprint? there is also a diference in the area where the date is, but the date is the same.

According to ComicBase, there wasn't a second printing. The difference would probably be Newstand edition (with barcode), or direct edition (spidey head).
Not positive though, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

BTW, ComicBase's value placed on that issue, if in NM condition, is $10, if that helps you at all.

i don't remember where i heard what you said before but i believe that you are right on the money. Sometimes it wasn't a spidey head thats the difference between newstand and direct.
