 is there something I can add to htaccess to link to goatse or some shit when someone tries to link my images? I'd still like to be able to link my own site though on other forums is there a way to do that?

for starters you can disable the right click function, but then when someone goes to view -> source they can see it all. But I think disabling right click would stop atleast 3/4 of people stealing images

disabling right-click should have never been created.

Disabling right click is worthless. Who cares if they steal your image. You're concerned about them stealing your bandwidth.

Hotlink protection is the best bet:

Use that to generate a .htaccess

Don't forget to disallow streaming of videos, most people disable pictures but embedded videos take up ALOT more bandwidth and most guys forget about restricting that ... on my sites you have to right click and save the videos I host on my servers, the pictures look fine on my site and are watermarked on all other sites.

I've seen sites that disable right click when you are hovering over an image. I hate disabled right click sites cause it's quicker to right click and go back then it is to scroll up and hit the back button or reach over and hit backspace ... that might be a compromise ...

I don't condone the use of porn (especially nasty porn) when doing hotlink protection, but I'm glad it worked out for you.

I never understood why people would get so upset if someone hotlinked a picture from their site, i never experienced anything like a lack of bandwith before, isn't stuff like that a problem of the past by now?

large images like animated gifs being linked to from myspace & different web sites can use quite a bit of resources.

I owned someone after redirecting the linked image to a pic of tubgirl. The ban from that site was worth it.

I had a few people linking images off of one of my sites on their MySpace pages...I was thinking of using Goatse or something nasty at first, but instead decided to go with something a little more subtle. A 1x5000 transparent GIF that totally fucked up their layouts. :mamoru:

I checked the people's profiles a couple days later, and one person had totally deleted their profile to start from scratch, the other cleared everything out.

I setup a site for a local tattoo shop, i used the picture as the table background and put a blank gif over the pic, when people right clicked and saved the pic they got a 1x1 blank pic. Most of the time I don't care if they take the pic, once they have it they have to host it themselves ... I'm not against that, I'm against me paying for their hosting.

I watermark everything now. You can disable hotlink but doesnt prevent them from stealing your images anyway so with a watermark they have to play hell to get it changed around if they want it THAT bad. :wiggle:

What program are you using to watermark? I don't want to watermark each individual picture with PS :o
