Ok, my ISP hands out ADSL modems which are also routers, in this case a Siemens SpeedStream 4200 (link).

I needed wireless, and have an Asus WL566gM. Pretty standard wireless router.

Anyways, I can get the net to work and everything, that's pretty simple - but when I'm using uTorrent, I get speeds of maybe 7-8k total. However, I can max my bandwidth when the Asus isn't between me and the modem. uTorrent reports the port closed, and I've tried as many configs with gateways and port forwards as I can think of.

I'm not a newb, but I don't know enough about networking to know how to set this up properly. I have the Siemens enabled with DHCP and the Asus not, and I use a static IP on my PC.

    Any help? :x:

Unplug cable from WAN port of ASUS router, reconnect it to any of the other ports.

Thats so simple it makes me feel stupier.

Do I set my gateway as the Siemens? Which one (if any) should be running DHCP (or does it matter?)?

    Alright, I'll set that up.

One last question though... if the Siemens is on DHCP, and it assigns 10.0.0.1+ how come I can access the Asus on 192.168.1.1?
