Go here if it makes you feel better http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks but you are only getting speeds as fast as you pay for.
put a Nos and R-Type stickers on it!!
it will boost your HP by 5 at least!!!
you can uncap it
i dont recomend it because you'll get caught in about 15 minutes, but you will get 6gbps downloads.(again, for 15 minutes)
can't you edit the bin file? I Was told that was possible when training me for my shitty job (I dont know much about it)
ya heard about that, what i wanna do is edit dhdom file [ something called that ]
and change the upload speed from max 254kbs to say 300 or 350kbs
i'm dont want to over do it, i just wanna the extra kbs for the home server
hummm, i put a type s sticker on it and slow me down
wasnt the right sticker.
see my above post.
And paint it yellow with racing stripes. That always works.
And you don't get the speeds you pay for, I get way more than what I pay for
help me out then ?
OK, step-by-step guide:
1) Buy a house a block from a DSL base station
2) Sign up for DSL from your phone company for $40 Canadian/month
the dsl base station is only 400 feet from my house!
but i run cable cause i got digital and in the end its much cheeper
Yea, I can see ours from my back alley, plus there are a good number of people around here with cable, so DSL is way faster for us, and they're the same price.
we get a deal here. digital cable (120 channels) is 89$/month.
toss in high speed its 99$/month....
6gbps? How many cable modems have more than a 10mbit connection on the private side?
Keep the discussion clean please. irocracer, your Windows 2003 Server download thread + uncapping modem thread = bad. Please read our CP rules at the top of the page.
I could be wrong, but the last I heard, the coax wire used by cable companies can only support about 30mbps. DSL had been up to 250-300mbps (doesn't mean you will get this to your house, but the technology is there to do it).
From a technical standpoint, uncapping your modem is bandwidth theft and I'm sure the cable company would love to treat you as a cable theft criminal. The best you can do is check out the dslreports site mentioned before and tweak your computers to handle the bandwidth or contact your cable company and find out how to get your bandwidth upgraded...
ya , your right
