To make a long story short...me and my roommate dont get along and instead of looking for a new place..how can i get him to leave?

what ive come down to is a coin toss...

he sells weed out of the house...is this some kind of leverage to get him out? i dont want to be a snitch but i really cant stand living with him anymore and I have a roommate lined up to move in

you care about keeping him as a friend? be aware that if you try and kick him out and he gets pissed he could try and snitch to the cops and say its yours. has he been busted at all? can you prove hes doing it?

The short answer: You can't really make him do something he doesn't want to do.

Long answer: If you really want him out and don't care about the consequences, start documenting when, where, and who he sells the weed to, then go to your landlord and/or the police.

Odds are though, if you're really unhappy, you're going to be the one to have to move out.

just call the police, they'll move him out for you

    Yep.

Notify your landlord of his activities, and have him/her report it to the police. The landlord can also start the eviction process while the cops haul his ass off to jail. If your landlord doesn't want to be bothered, remind him/her of the asset seizure program, if the cops bust him, the landlord can lose the property.

no doubt, snitching on him is pretty stupid. stop being passive aggressive and just tell him that you want him out.

i did tell him i want him out..im not being passive aggressive.. and we are at a stand still because we both dont want to leave...

i told him that i might leave at the end of this month..where he will need to find a sublet for two months until his future roommate can move in...who needs to pay for the two months plus the security deposit that i would be taking out...

if he doesnt find one by the end of this month and i have a roommate lined up and ready to pay, do you think i have a shot at having the place?

the landlord is on my side and would rather have me there anyways

Whose name is on the lease? That person is the one with the contract with the landlord and will be responsible should the other leave.

Why not just find another place and move?

then you have to decide if staying in this apartment you really like is worth having to live with him since he isnt leaving. you have to remember, you are the one that has a problem with him. he doesnt care if you stay. so if dont want to be living with him, you need to leave.

I wouldn't snitch on him but maybe hint that you might if he doesn't leave :dunno: Hard to say if it would do anything or not. If you snitch though you would probably get in some kinda trouble too since it's also your place.

Don't say that you will snitch on him for past deeds, but tell him straight up that if you see any sort of illegal transaction take place on the property in the future, that you will report it. That way he has fair warning.
