My G4 iMac has started to make a slight burning smell which emanates from the top vent holes and the fan seems to run a lot more. My apartment is a high-dust environment, despite efforts to minimize it via frequent cleaning and duct filter changes. I wanted to clean the interior of the iMac dome, but there is just no access. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can do this?

Use a vacuum cleaner on the bottom of the base. I'd read that some people blow compressed air into the circular opening on the underside of the base too, but i'm not sure how much that helps.

well, you can take the iMac G4 apart here is a link to instructions to do it.

I would take a part only part of the casing, buy a can of compressed air and blast the dust off all the vent holes +any areas that look like tey could use a cleaning.

    Dirt Free = heat free:)
