Buy accounts with a prepaid credit card, use Tor, what else do I need to do? Do anonymous proxy services work, or do I have to spoof a mac address too?

I've been away from working with computers for a long time, I'm really out of the loop. But, I can manage to follow directions if there's a faq out there that covers the bases well.

    Thanks

If I were really paranoid I would do something like...:

    1) Use a separate computer for your anonymous stuff. Buy it for cash from a retail store.

    2) Run a free operating system - not something that came with the computer. Linux.

    3) Only use public access wifi or other such connections - coffee shops, etc. Pay cash for your coffee and pastries. Try an Apple Strudel.

    4) Spoof your MACs.

After that you can use proxies. Use Tor. Disable cookies. Never mix anonymous and non-anonymous uses. Never stay in one spot too long.

FreeBSD? Do you know if FreeBSD is a pain to install on a laptop?

FreeBSD would be too uncommon for my paranoia.

Tor is soooo slow though, being completely anonymous will be a rather frustrating experience. I'd need a REALLY strong reason to do that, rather the usability of not worrying too much about it.
