sharing an entire hard drive (yeah i know, stupid, but it's only my lan)

i have it mapped as a network drive, guest account is turned off on the server. i have the network drive logged in with a username + password

can't access program files, local user folder, or windows. this is an ntfs drive, i have no trouble with a fat32 drive.

i can't remeber how to mess with the local security policy settings on the server to get it to work

the reason i'd like to figure it out, is because sometimes i leave things on my desktop on the server and i can't access them on the share...unless i vnc into it

What OS is the server running? If its XP, is simple file sharing enabled or disabled? What type of account are you connecting with (user, admin, etc?)

    \\computername\C$

Administrative shares already do what you want. All you have to do is give the Admin password for the computer you're connecting to.

You can't access a NTFS drive with FAT, unless I have that backwards and I don't think I do.
