    its 01-03.

Just make sure the car is still under warranty, then drive it hard until it breaks so you can get it fixed for free.

yeah but i hear the one they give you is not good either. so basically its almost guaranteed that you will be fixing the tranny sometime in the future (with your own money after 100k miles).

Get an 03 CL Type-S with the 6MT and LSD....you'll never have a problem.

It was available only in the 03, it was a last ditch effort to get sales up but since that didn't work they cancelled the line......it was sad...such a nice car.

my buddies 2001 CL-S had to have its transmission replaced at 40k miles. I guess when they replace it, they just give u a refurbished one, and now 3 months later hes thinks the tranny is about to go again.

Yeah the auto's are just horrible. They give you the following on a replacement

    1- A remanufactured tranny
    &
2- A upgraded ecu with new shift patterns.

My first transmission was at 28k miles my 2nd was now at 53k miles.

Again the two best tranny's are the 6mt in the RSX with LSD and CL-S with LSD.

same problem with me, except it was my old '01 accord. was on my way to my philosophy final when the car wouldn't get out of 2nd gear. i was on the freeway stuck in 2nd gear redlining the damn car. anyway, i had the tranny replaced, but it feels like it's starting to fall apart again (my dad drives it now). can i get them to replace it again even though it's not fucked up yet? :x:

check to see if you are covered under the 100k warranty.

In a couple of months I'm in the market for a CL-S. Since I have a modified TT RX-7 there are times when I am in the mood for the creature comforts like heated leather seats and auto (great for stop and go traffic up the hill).

What's the best way to bust a tranny so that I can get it replaced under warranty?

It's a pity, aside from the tranny issue and FWD for some applications, the CL-S is really a nice car. 30MPG~ on the freeway with a 260HP engine is pretty impressive. And we all know that the Honda/Acura engines have such a strong track record of getting great power, yet good MPG.

How much are these CL-S going for?

    my two cents...

i have a '01 cls and the original tranny is holding up just fine. the car currently has 82,xxx miles on it.

eta: go to acurazine.com and you'll find plenty of info on the tranny and more.
