Picking up a non running 74 Honda xl 250 for $60, and then fixing it up myself while learning to ride.

I've wanted to learn for a while, is this worthwhile?

put that money toward msf then buy a bike...
being a mechanic while learning to ride isn't the best way to go

Been fixing up my bike while learning to ride...

it tried to stall mid turn, so I gave it more gas, and then it decided to go... and low sided my ass.

Start on a bike that works.

Is it because of reliability? I was thinking of grabbing it, and then waiting until I had gotten it running for the first time and then taking the msf. Then not really moving up before getting it running reliably. That way I have some actual knowledge of how it works and then start slowly.

I was thinking of something small and light, and then taking it slow with that.

That or just saying fuck it and getting a scooter or a cheap local Yamaha Chappy. :o

likely not worth getting a bike of that value running
