how bad is it for me to eat a light meal before my light w/o?

    ignore my overuse of 'light.'

I'm just getting back into working out so I'm doing girly work out videos like The Firm and Walk Off the Pounds. By the time I get home I'm starving so I have a quesadilla that's like 200-300 cals (depends how big I make it and sometimes I have 2) and then I work out like 30 min later.

After I work out I usually have some nuts and chocolate milk. Should I have a smaller snack before my w/o or is the quesadilla ok?

oh, I use spark people to keep track of my food normally, but I've done it for so long that now I just eyeball it unless I get off track. The cheese has a good amt of protein and I use good WW tortillas with a good fiber/protein number. Sometimes I add meat or beans to the quesadilla as well.

As a side note, I've been doing this for a bit and I don't feel sick during my workout or like my food is bouncing around...just wondering if it's doing anything bad that I don't know about.

imo beans are just as good as meat. but I like shrimp and chicken too. I actually don't have a stove though. :o So I cook meat only like 1-2 times a week on the foreman.

I usually eat a chicken breast and a bowl of oatmeal about an hour and half before lifting. Really helps out and I've noticed the difference.

Regardless of goals you should never exercise on an empty stomach.

I always eat a big meal 2hrs before workout. And a protein shake 15min before.

If I dont, i'll have no energy during the lifts and my recovery would suck ass.

personally eat slow digesting carbs like some pasta, yogurt etc so i have energy throughout my whole work out rather than some random snack that will give me a quick boost for only part of my work out. i do a lot of biking and running along with my lifting. then after workout i eat fast digesting carbs with a good protein source like chicken breast or turkey so my muscles get the energy they need.

I usually have a protein only meal an hour or 45 minutes or so before lifting. It's never a big meal though.

well, the tortilla is whole wheat and then there's the beans. Those are both pretty slow digesting right?

and then after the work out chocolate milk is ok right? I thought I heard that a fast digesting carb was ok right after a work out (well I guess skim milk isn't that fast digesting, but I don't use the sugar free choc mix).

Carbs both pre and post are extremely important. Without preworkout carbs you may feel light headed and your workout can suffer.
