How bad is drinking 1-2 beer per night for my lifting goals?

    Should I just cut out the alcohol during the week altogether? I really enjoy sitting down towards the end of the night with a really good beer, up to two in a night (not counting Saturdays/occasionally Fridays). I do this a few times a week. How badly is this screwing me over and should I just stop entirely or is there a way to work this in so I can still enjoy my hobby while keeping my diet in check?

    not bad for anything other than empty cals. you wont get too lean doing that.

    Yeah, I definitely knew it was nothing but empty calories, but they're just so delicious :yum: My worry was that I generally get off work at 9, have my 6th and final meal of the day (usually very low in carbs and high in protein), then have a beer, sometimes two afterwards about an hour or two before I go to sleep so I'm concerned that I'm just storing those carbs, especially if the next day is an off day on my split

    Ive never found a point in drinking just 1 or 2 beers, if im going to drink Im going to get fucked up but if its for the taste try other drinks, and let me say no homo first, like tea or that safeway calorie free water but i guess that only matters if your watching calories. If not fuck it

    I am watching calories to a degree, but it's not like I can't find a way to move around the extra 150/300 calories from 1/2 beers to fit it in. When I say I drink one or two beers I'm not talking about one or two Miller lights, I'm talking about 7-10% alcohol craft beers that I'm drinking as much for flavor and aroma as I am the alcohol content

    i dont like the taste of any alcohol either, if im drinking its to get fucking CRIZZED THE FUCK UP MAN ILL BE LEANING LIKE A MAH-FUCKA.

    1 - 3 beers every night = alcoholism
    4 - infinity once a week = binge drinking


    "drinking it for the taste" every night is still drinking every night, and if being boozed up every night before bed was a successful strategy for reaching fitness goals, then we'd all be too drunk to post here

    1-3 beers every night does not make you a fucking alcoholic, jesus dude

    So you're saying someone who has 2 glasses of wine with dinner every night is the equivalent of a dude who slams a handle of jack every day and starts drinking when he wakes up.

    besides, such a small amount of alcohol will really have no effect on your training.

    Alcohol is actually good for lifting. A bunch of supplement companies are coming out with beer. ON has one called 1:0:0.

    That might mean something if I actually drank on a regular basis. You on the other hand are a whole foods specialist who claims to be qualified as a personal trainer yet you're tiny and couldn't lift your way out of a paper bag.
