    :dunno:

Are there certain things that hinder it more than others? Beer vs. liquor? "clear" liquor vs. brown liquor?

I doubt it matters what type of liquor. I do know that it inhibits protein synthesis, as well as decreasing testosterone. and i've read on this forum that it slows your metabolism down (or something to that extent).

either way it's no good for you..i'd say, in moderation , alcohol consumption shouldn't matter too much..

Even worse, ethanol causes a HORMONAL shift. It increases
estrogen through the up-regulation of the aromatase enzyme,
lowers testosterone, increases cortisol and to boot reduces
    free T3 levels.
^^ just quick googled and found this off a site

    It has alcohol...

If you are concerned about cardio-vascular disease go walk for 30 minutes 3 times a week. You'll be better off that way.

one glass of wine per day is supposed to be good for you :bigthumb:

I once read an article on how to extend your lifespan... in that article they said that they found a village where people who live beyond their 100th birthday are no rarity... it was a fishing village where they ate fish most of the time and drank wine on a daily basis :)

Having a glass a day of RED wine is good for the heart... However, alcohol is alcohol and it can still hinder your results.

I wouldn't worry "too" much about it though. If you drink a lot, then just cut back. Otherwise, unless your getting ready for a show, drinking in moderation should be fine. (moderation meaning a couple times a week a having a few drinks, NOT binge drinking the entire weekend).

    I agree with DTR

TZ, if you look at the references in a lot of those articles, its based upon rat studies.

They wouldnt draw conclusions from rats if they didnt know from experience that rat physiology translates reliably to human physiology in the areas being tested. :dunno:

I don't know if soaking dead meat in alcohol is quite comparable to having it delivered to the muscle from the blood. Heck maybe it is though, what do I know.

Honestly for me the biggest affect alcohol has on my training is making me have a shitty day of training if I wake up with a hang over.

The original experiment and the person who cited it are two entirely different people. What one person was trying to prove and what the author of these articles may be entirely different.
