I was at the fun show this past weekend and was looking over .38 special revolvers for carry duty. I'm mostly a S&W guy when it comes to revolvers, but I noticed they were cheaper and had "Made in the USA" on the boxes. I did a search, but only turned up a year old thread on one that was built ten years ago. Of course a lot can change in ten years. Are they any good?

    Thanks

Pretty sure I've heard Charter Arms in general are a big NO. But I could be wrong.

*shrugs, it would be a first for me to hear about an unreliable revolver.

As far as rust resistance, resale, finish, and all of those other factors I honestly have no idea.

If you want something that you'll be carrying on duty and will be putting your life on I'd say pass on it if there is even a shadow of a doubt.

Word is it was a squib load. Second shot demolished the revolver. Charter said they'd buy him a new model of his choice, but he's going to sell it and get something else. :o

My understanding is the old ones were good. Then they got bought out and were made by someone crappy. Now the newer ones are decent. Think of it as a factory seconds S&W. it still shoots fine, just might be a bit rougher than the full deal.
