    My botehr is looking for a laptop. I've spec'ed out some dells as well a lenovo. I ran across this one today at walmart. Yes, Walmart.

    Click Me.....

    For the specs, the price is pretty good. A co-worker I know has three different acers and seems happy with them.

    My brother will not use this for gaming. Just surfing the web, maybe copying cd/dvd's. Al little word processing also. Vey light use. The T61 with lesser specs was around $300 higher.

    uber-shit, son. I'd say go for a Lenovo 3000 if you want to save some cash. Otherwise you cannot beat the quality of the ThinkPad.

    Even the base Lenovo 3000 is 999. That's a hell of a big difference. I am certain lenovo is better built but for someone that is a casual user, is it really worth the $. I mean, an intel chip is an intel chip, the hard drives are probably the same (wd, seagate, etc.).

    Circuit City sold the lenovo 3000 N100 for $549 for a while then dropped the price even lower. They're sold out now (mad about that, because I would have bought one) but I bet you can find em around.

    I actually decided to NOT listen to these people here ragging on Acer...

    So I got that EXACT model yesterday at Best Buy

    I have it for at least an hour until my right-click button doesnt work

    So I go and check the mouse settings under Control Panel and lo and behold...

    I get a BLUE FUCKING SCREEN :eek4::ugh::wtc:

    I'm returning it tomorrow :o

    It could have been me, but I honestly think that computer wasnt at all built for Vista, it would freeze up on me (this is after disabling the mouse and using an external one) and the screen would flash/go black alot

    So I would look for more options :hs:

    acer laptops are notorisly poorly constructed. the buttons break easy, the hinge is a peice of crap, battery life is crap and the batterys don't last that long either.
    yes it has the same chip but just to have a good case with good supporting components is the way to go.

    bought a used acer for $100... 2gb ram, 2.6ghz intel, shit video card... it works fine.

    The AC plug pin broke off inside of it but thats because I dropped it with the cord plugged in. Soldered a female RCA jack down onto the board with the wire going through the little hole, and soldered a male RCA jack in place of the one on the power cord and it works fine now, ghetto as hell but wtf I don't care, all my money goes into my desktop and this POS is for school not games.
