The LS1 fell through, and I found a great deal on a 99 GT, do those SOHC motors have potential?

Any sites? $$ Isn't important. This would be my project car to take to the track once in a while. Would be nice for a daily driver, but the gas prices suck :wtcd:.

First things first, get an exhaust on that bad boy. Late model modular V8 Fords have the best damn sounding exhaust on the planet.

After that, really up to you. I'd go with a supercharger, that'll really wake it up and put you a shade ahead of the stock LS1 boys. ;)

The intakes suck ridiculous balls...find a replacement for that somewhere...if you're gonna put a blower on, eaton makes a kit that replaces the intake and puts a small roots blower inside the manifold...saw it in Hot Rod a few years ago...could be worth looking into.

How's the Kenne Bell supercharger? Is it safe (reliability wise) to put that on a Mustang with just an exhaust?

that 1.1 liter of displacement the LS1 has over the GT is enough to piss you off. bolt-ons don't do as much on a GT as I'd like, I know that much. BUT, the GT is cheaper than the LS1 is.........and in my opinion, it looks better inside and out. I can't sit in a firebird or camaro without trying to sit up to see over the hood. The Gt puts you high enough to see over the stock hood though.

Actually, the dealer called me back and re-agreed to the 9.5k offer I gave him.

The seats are really pulled back in the camaro. That's the only dislike I have about the LS1 (apart from it being an auto, but I can live with that). I hate the fact that whenever I'm driving the f-body, it feels like I'm laying down and I have to support me head on something just to see. It also feels long as hell.

When I got in the Mustang, the pedals, seat, and everything was in the "right" spot. The gear lever was easy to reach and I was sitting up-right, instead of slanted. Feels more of a fast daily driver than a fast drag-racer (like the LS1 does).

  13. in my oppinion, what you want to do in the future should depend on what you do now. If you want a blower in the future, i would recommend building your motor up befor plunkin money downo n a blower. Get a better intake, a better set of heads, and a cam, and some different pistons for compression. And if you do add a blower, dont forget about biger injectors and a fuel pump. Gotta have more fuel if you want more hp

why is everyone downing the intake? yeah its plastic but much improved over the 96-98. there are tons of power adder guys using just a replacement upper plenum and blower on the stock lower making over 400rwhp.......myself included. there is a guy on Modular power house's site that makes 600hp with that intake. the only guys that worry about the intake are the guys using a Wet Kit nitrous system. puddling has caused intake explosions on most of those cars. tha aftermarket is starting to boom finally for the mod motor cars.

get a kenne bell, some sub frame connecters/strut tower brace/control arms and a good set of tires and you'll have more fun than you ever thought possible. oh, and if i can recommend an exhaust system, get the SLP with longtubes and cats (i'm talking about a stang btw)

Mustangs unlimited is a rip off. The shipping costs there are 10% of your order total..... can get VERY expensive.

Laurel Mountain mustang is a good place

    have fun!

Or you could just go F.I.

    Modular Mustangs...
Exhaust - Basanni Headers and X Pipe and Dynomax UltraFlo Mufflers should be your only options
Intake - now that Pro-M fell thru, C&L makes decent MAF's and 'Powerpipes'
Steeda makes a decent set of underdrive pullies
Get some 4.10 gears in that thing and an aluminum driveshaft...

You'll be rippin up the streets....

You need to be careful with the FI on our Mustangs. Ford designed the pistons/rods like shit. Anything over 425 horse, and you're putting some serious stress on the stock pistons/rods.
