    aperture controls flash power

    shutter speed controls ambient

Inverse square law, if you move the flash twice as far away from the subject, the light is only 1/4 as bright as it was before on the subject

So if you are using f11 on your camera and 1/1 power on the flash, if DOF isnt the issue, you can lower the f stop, and decrease the power of the flash and still have the same exposure. Shooting at 1/4 power is usually all I need in ordinary circumstances because I like shooting wide open. This allows faster recycles and longer lasting batteries

Just watch the onelight video, he makes it look easy and in reality its all pretty simple

i watched the onelight video, and it was a great primer.

i was looking for something possibly strictly on indoor studio work, but then again, I don't have my equipment yet, so I can probably get by for a while by just "messing around".

I think i'm going to build a single stud/drywall wall in my unfinished basement, solely to have a good background to shoot against. :o
