    Hey Guys

I joined a long time ago, but just decided to start my first thread.

Anyone have any experience with tattoo artists in the Houston area?
Are there any well known or famous artists?

What about other cities in Texas? Austin/Dallas/San Antonio etc.

I don't have any tattoos and this will be my first and probably my only one, so I want a tattoo that will be awesome and that looks professional and artistic.

don't have any experience and don't know what to look for/expect.

    Any help?

    Thanks
    Big Papa

I get all my ink done by Gabe Massey at Scorpion Studios on Westheimer (near Montrose). There are some other talented artists there as well, but Gabe has always done great work on me and after some bad experiences at other places (Bombshell in particular), I only get work done by Gabe now.

Just searched some shops in the area and found a lot of crap. These guys seem to do solid work. I just don't know what style of tattoo you're going for.

Yeah, style you're looking for would be a great start. Definitely helps narrow down the search.

    hmm...

I don't really have a specific style in mind. Just some ideas for a shoulder/back piece.

How are you gonna get a tattoo if you dont know what you want? A fish, a volcano, a dick on a swing, dogs playing poker, thug jesus, angel fighting a devil? Maybe an evolution scene.

I know exactly what I want. But I'm not sure which 'style' of artist it would require. Now that I think of it, thats why I'd like to know some of the best artists in the area so I can compare their styles nd see which fits best with what I have in mind.

it's going to be a full back mural of Jesus and Mohamed holding hands while they piledrive moses and buddha.

Not sure of the tattoo style. Should probably just 'walk-in' and tell the artist that's what i want.....

Guy did a great back piece for a friend of mine a few years back in Houston. Pretty sure it was a guy named Danny at Sacred Heart (also on Westheimer near Montrose). Just go down to Montrose and go in the shops there. There are like a bazillion tattoo shops in a mile stretch down there. Look at the books and talk to the artists. Again personally I only get ink from Gabe Massey, but there are some other excellent artists in the area. My last tattoo all I did was describe to Gabe what I wanted and he drew the most beautiful god damned picture I'd ever seen from my description.:bowdown: I plan on getting a side/back piece done by him next time I'm back in H-town for more than a few days.
