    found this interesting.

    Weight difference between the car with an LS7 and a BBC 572 was only 140lbs....

    Is that a typo on the 572's actual hp? Seems to be way underrated.

    reminds me of a woman in a shoe store. "I'll try on these five pairs....no...I think I'll try these instead.....hmmm.....maybe this pair will work better....no, I think I like the other ones best"

    LS7 = 15k or so just the crate, no dry sump setup

    572 = 13k carb to pan

    that 572 is sicknasty. one of the best crate engines ever made. Daign, I feel you about the LSx, you should have seen the thread about "what would you build for pinks 15k budget" there were at least 10 posts about some random car with a LSX swap, and I was thinking, no fucking way for 15k.

    I want that lsx 327 :bowdown:

    140lbs isn't much overall, but and additional 140lbs directly over the front wheels is not desirable.

    I didn't see anywhere, did the LS7 have the Carb setup like the LS3?

    I don't see any weather statistics anywhere, I would assume they tried running all the engines in about the same track/weather?

    I'm not biased towards the 572 or the LS7, the 572 is definitely a very impressive engine, the LS7 still deserves props, 147CI smaller and only lose 120HP.
    What makes you say that?

    The 572 definitely gains a shit load in ET thanks to all the torque it has :bowdown:
    I would say that's more than enough to make up the 140lb difference and then some to gain .5 ET on the LS7. Plus they probably lowered the gears in the 572 so it was at a bigger disadvantage.

    I would say the converter put the LS7 at a disadvantage, I think the LSx group have come to the same consensus that TCI converters blow with those engines. Of course this is based on a 4L60 trans.

    When the ZZ4 small-block was swapped in, the 4.44:1 rear gear used for the LS7 and LS3 engines was exchanged for a 4.30:1.

    What's to ponder? Did anybody not expect the 572 to be better to do the pussy push down the 1/4 mile?
