I have a website hosted with them. Everything is fine and good. It works.

I bought another domain from godaddy, changed the nameservers over to hostgator, and now i'm trying to figure out how to upload files to display when I go to that website.

The guy I've been chatting with for the last hour does not understand my question. He had me create an addon domain, but when I upload files into that folder, they don't show up. I uploaded an index.html file that just says "Coming soon" but when I go to the URL of that website, it's a parked page full of ads.

How do I set it up so I can upload files to my new domain? Oh, I have a "Baby" account so I can have multiple domains.

edit - after an hour and 15 minutes of chatting he said my .htaccess file didn't update itself so I have to email support and have them fix it :ugh2:

An hour and 15 minutes. Srsly. Most of it was comprised of 10 minute breaks while I waited for a response from the guy.

    open up notepad.. paste in

    Code:
    # Set the default handler.
    DirectoryIndex index.html

save it as .htaccess and upload it to the folder.

it's also entirely possible that the nameservers haven't really been updated to hostgator yet.

you could of updated the nameservers 2 days ago, but that doesnt mean your changes have propagated across the web.

so is this correct as to how I will upload my files:

my home folder will contain all the files and stuff for my main website (ie. the first domain I registered with that I have been using for a while)

my public_html/www.newdomain.org folder will hold all the files for my new domain?

    Cool.

Yeah I've usually had a good experience with them but last night, not so much. Plus I was annoyed that it took 1:15 to be able to solve what should have been solvable in 10 minutes.

Well if you read the thread I had a bad, slow experience with one guy.

Everyone else I've chatted with has been quick and helpful.
