Has anyone ever found anyone using match.com or eharmony.com? I have a free account on match, and they sent me an email saying someone messaged me but I could only read it if I pay for a month, 3 months, or 6 months. I looked at the girls that are on it. There were a couple that seemed alright. What do I do? Is it worth it? :noes:

Btw, been single for three years. Haven't dated either. That's probably feeding the temptation, too.

I am on it. Paid for the 3 months. Why not, I played WoW, so I could waste my money on something that would be more constructive. I have met a few girls, nothing serious though. You do have to do a lot of work though. Give it a shot if you haven't had a date in 3 years, what is the harm?

Ya, sometimes you just have to ignore certain people. That is an example.

I honestly dont believe in dating websites, natural forces put people together through random daily interaction

I met my current girlfriend on eHarmony, 3 months now. I was reluctant at first but a friend who found her husband there gave me a gift subscription. Been good so far. You have to do some major filtering though.

I used to love those sites, now I find they universally suck.

I think it's because all the packages you buy are for unlimited contact...so guys just take the machine gun approach. It means any meaningful words are inevitably lost in the flood of crap that overflows their inboxes. Back in the day (leans on cane) you could pay per contact, and that worked really well. Buck a note. Weeded out the "any wet hole" morons and flakes quickly.

Hmm..probably wont work cause I feel its meant for people older then 19 rofl

I think the age requirement on eharmony is 21 isn't it?

There's not really much point in any of these sites unless you pay. You can't do anything on'em otherwise.

my brother signed up on eharmony and like a week later is now with this girl

if you have extra money to throw around I don't see why not -- as long as you're not dependent on it

eHarmony is a horrible scam..they promote so much on TV, and you fill out their profile, and it gets you thinking "oh, this IS really thorough, this will work great!" Then, to do anything, you have to sign up...$60 for a single month, $20 a month for a year subscription, but you have to pay $250 in one sitting.

I'm sorry, but no. I'm not putting that much money down on something that has no guarantee of results.

If you're gonna use them, do Plenty of fish and OkCupid, at least they are free.

Besides, how many great women are out there who are going to put down that kind of money on a dating site?

The few times I have looked over/emailed someone from my area on Craigslist, it is an attempt to get people to go to a website.

I think having to pay for it helps with quality control. My brother got 4 matches overnight, and met with a girl within a few days -- she's a hot, successful, intelligent blond in her mid-twenties.

He did the 3 month subscription. You can pay that much or be 99% of other guys who spend (at least) $40 at the bar each night and don't get shit results. Maybe by the time you get a quality girl you dropped a few hundred bucks.

Obviously, a good strategy is not buying alcohol but lots of dudes need it so whatever.

Craigslist is a shit show and truly pathetic.

I don't do the bar thing...but at least with eHarmony, it shows you how many matches you have without a subscription, you just can't see the pictures.

I'm in the middle of Iowa...have had 2 matches on eHarmony since signing up like 2 weeks ago.

Just put up a profile at OKCupid.com for the hell of it last night, have a lot more possible matches.

I'm sending out some emails, but not really counting on this going anywhere...but it kills some time on a boring Sunday.

Oh yeah...onlinebootycall.com is a good one for finding desperate fatties if that is your thing.

I dunno having shit online is cool and all but for each hour you are on that site and updating shit I think you should spend 3 hours out just chatting up random people.

There's no girls around me on hotornot, but I've read that it's not bad? $5/mo.

dating specific sites weird me out though. I'd prefer going to something like yahoo/aol chat

I'm actually talking to three girls right now that are pretty good looking on match.com. one i'm talking about bukowski (none of my friends have read any bukowski. it's so refreshing), the other we talked a lot last night and she gave me her number, and the other we only exchanged s/ns but she hasn't been online. overall, i think it was a worthwhile investment.
