1. I just picked up a car from a local dealership and I have a few questions about it.

It has a swapped engine b17a with around 90K on it.

What is the factory redline fro this motor?

What is the factory vtec crossover rpm?
(vtec comes on @ around 5600 rpm now)

I was told it's running a p30 ecu with a Kenji chip. anyone ever heard of a kenji chip? what are the redline/vtec points for it.

I was told all the motor parts for almost any b-series will work for all other b series engines. true? (it needs a new header)

are the parts that are on here decent?

    parts on the car now:
    AEBS intake manifold
hondata throttle body and intake manifold gaskets
    Kenji chipped p30
    exedy stage 2 clutch
    fidanza flywheel

Thanks or any help in advance.:wavey:

b17a i believe has an 8k rpm redline. that kenji chip might have moved the redline up. yes, vtec kicks in around 5k+.

you should really go check out honda-tech.com for more info.

  3. well i've reved passed the 8k mark (gotten too around 8600, car is still pulling hard)

I'm not new to cars just honda's and i understand that they rev really high, but even with the chipped ecu allowing me to push it higher is there really any benifit to this? can the head hold upto these higher rpms?

    thanks for your help...:wavey:

looking at the mods on that engine, i wouldnt go above 8k rpms. to go above 8k rpms reliably u would need new springs/retainers, valves, etc... and i doubt u're making any extra hp past 8k rpms with those mods.
