Apparently they couldn't master the art of making a car where the interior doesn't rattle like a cheap POS. This statement also include their "Luxury" Acura line.

That's pretty much any new car. Mercedes, Porsche, Mitsubishi, Toyota. It doesn't matter. They all rattle.

yeah in general newer cars aren't as rattle free as they used to be... my 2002 maxima with 86k miles on it has no rattles whereas my friends mom's 2008 maxima with 4k miles on it has several... on the other hand her 2007 versa with 39k miles doesn't have as many as the much more expensive maxima

The quality is just shit with these new cars. I have a 2006 Civic & 2006 Accord, both of them rattles like crazy.

Both of the windows on my accord rattles when it's rolled all the way up, but if you roll it slightly down/crack the window a bit it'll stop rattling.

The civic is just a rattle trap, you name it and it'll rattle.

Don't forget about their "Luxury" Acura line of cars. The TSX & TL rattles like a cheap POS too. wtf

Actually, I was going to point that out (or something like it, anyway). All of the interior-trim fasteners on my car are foam-lined to reduce rattles. Granted, that doesn't have anything to do with the weight of the car, but it does help to have some inertia to keep the cabin stable over rough roads.

My mother's Mazda 626 doesn't rattle either, and I know she hasn't kept up with it like I've kept up with my car. The only thing I need to get her to do is switch from Michelin Energy tires to Michelin Pilots; the Pilots are so much quieter.

I'm gonna agree with the threadstarter: sounds to me like it's a Honda problem.

The pilots are horrible in terms of road noise, save your money.

Second, this isn't just a Honda problem. Almost every brand has troubles with rattles, including VW. ;)

zot, I have them on my car. And my father now has them on both of his cars. And my mother will eventually have them on her car. They are fantastic tires, at least as far as high-performance all-seasons go. The reviews on Tire Rack also tend to agree that they're almost unnaturally quiet and smooth.

(I suppose I should mention I'm talking about Pilot Exalto tires; I don't know anything about the other types of Pilots.)

au contraire, all that trim and sound deadening material does add up to more weight. And it's not just a Honda problem.

I have Michelin Pilots on my car but with the way I drive (not necessarily fast, but I like to keep the revs high), my exhaust, and music, can't really tell if the Pilots are quiet or loud.

I guess I should have also mentioned I was talking about the Pilot HX MXM4. I have them on my car right now, and they're sooooooo damn noisy on anything but buttery-smooth highway surfaces.

My RSX has a speaker cover that rattled, but they replaced it under warranty... after that it didn't rattle at all.

can you say American cars? I drove a Focus rental, that thing was horrible. On the other hand, the 300C was pretty quiet, then again it is a heavy pig.
