I won't post the txt, but it basically says you americans arn't missing out on much, and practically said that you would be an idiot not to buy the MS3, which is exactly the same price.

Here's the most interesting part though, the identically priced Civic Type R and Mazda 3 MPS (MS3) on the dyno.

    Look at that torque

I wonder why Honda is letting the other jap automakers pass them by in terms of features and performance.

They can't afford to cannibalize their other models. Granted, the RSX is gone, so I don't know why they don't make the CTR a little beefier, powerwise.

It was always a problem with not wanting the Civic line to have better performance than the more expensive Integra/RSX line. :hs:

The civic has a nice flat torque curve. For a riding lawnmower.

I'm not in the market for either, but I'd love a MS3 over that peice of shit, and I've been a Honda fanboy for a long long time.

    Two words...

    Sack Riders

Honda knows they can put out a marginalyl cool car, and people will buy it becuase tis a honda. They have the culture drive to allow them to make a less then steller car, and sell it at a premium price.

Much in teh same way Toyota makes bullshit bland cheaply made interiors, and tooling thats 25 years old to build its vehicles. Becuase people sack ride the "quality", and becuase its "toyota".

I'm sure its brilliant on the track... that review did say when you can get the revs up, on a very smooth road, its a great car.

But for the rest of the time, it feels underpowered and is way too stiff and i would just prefer the MS3..

That's a terrible graph. The torque is somewhere around 150Nm -- the torque axis is on the RIGHT side of the graph, not the LEFT. The left side is horsepower.

    - - -

Anyway, I've never been a Civic fan, but I have to say it's a pity that Honda didn't put an engine with respectable oomph into that car, because other than that it certainly seems to fit their "mantra" of purity and balance -- that Type R is the most authentically-Japanese-looking car I've seen in probably ten years or more. It's very neat, very mechanical, very...(sorry for the political incorrectness)...squinty.

They could have turboed it and still kept the smooth, flat torque curve. VW could do it, I'm sure Honda could figure out how.
