What would be the best 5.1 channel Dolby Digital/DTS system for like 500-600 dollars. I dont need a DVD player, just speakers and a reciever for my room. My room is about medium size and i would hope to keep this for a few years so i can bring it with me when i move out and always upgrade speakers or whatever.

Basically it would be hooked into my computer just playing mp3's and cd's off the computer.

    Thanks :wiggle:

I would spend around 250 on a reciever that has both DD and DTS. Then spend 350 on a pair of stereo speakers. Then get the surround's, center channel and subwoofer later, when you have more money.

Just remember, 5 shitty speakers wont sound any good compared to 2 decent ones.

I was just at Costco and they have a Pioneer set-up for $399.99

    VSX-D711 + DV-353 (I think it's the 353) + 5 speakers & a sub (couldn't tell you the # for the speakers)
