So I just remodeled the basement and I have this extra room that is useless at the moment(except storing useless shit and an ugly ass picture)...

Figured I might as well make it a little studio. What do you guys think?

Is it too small? Or is it possible? :x:

Any suggestions or things i need to do to make it possible? :hs:

He probably could for headshots if he stood in the hall.

I'd say try it! You might not be able to do a whole lot of things requiring space but that should be plenty for some mid length or even some full length portraits. If all else fails it would be cool to have a room just for the photo gear.

    it'll work...just use a wide angle zoom...something like a 24-70.

props and shooting angles are what you need to be more concerned with.

Damn...I just got one of those :hs:

Thats what I figured...I could at least keep the crap in there :bigthumb:

what wife? My gf thinks its a great idea tho.

    Portraits/amateur porn....the usual :noes:

I guess the 17-55 will come in handy then :bigthumb:

Yeah...it doesnt seem like there's much room to angle shots or lighting much. But I guess I could always just move the subject a little to try and help with that.

    what props? :hs:

consider getting some background muslins (or even just cheap sheets from Walmart), and a couch or something.

also if think about it, things like shower curtains are cheap and make great backgrounds for studio work if you light them right and pick the right ones:o

    :bigthumb: Thanks!

I dont know if I want to put a couch in there....maybe for the amateur porn shots i make with the gf :mamoru:...other than that it might take up too much room. Depends on the shoot i guess :hs:

EDIT: which shower curtains are the right ones? I have plenty of extra sheets around though if thats better.

I've been in photo studios in dept stores that are smaller than 15x10 and I've seen families of 5 get pics done in them so I guess anythings possible.

I wouldn't plan on having full length shots often, but thats more than enough space to do something decent. You can either get a portable seamless/muslin holder, or get something that is mounted to the wall. They make a nice looking one for $60 that holds 3 rolls, or I just went to Home Depot and made my own for $5 each.
