Anyone here have an underground bunker?

In a normal house with no underground vault, what would be the ideal location for a safe?

Interior room with no windows and a solid core door with a good deadbolt.

A bunker has negative connotations, but a safe room is always a good idea. Everyone should have a fire resistant secure at-home location to store at least a little bit of their valuables. If you're in a tornado-prone area, that's another good reason.

I'm building an outbuilding this year for the wife's toys (garden stuff, mostly), and under it will be a full basement, with a section that will be "secure". That is, big steel door, reinforced roof, etc. Tornadoes do happen around where we live, and our home doesn't have a basement. This secure room will be used to store a little bit of emergency supplies, arms, weather radio, flashlights, and a little bedding. Not exactly something to ride out the end of the world, but a safe place to put people and stuff in case the house is robbed, burns down, or is carried away by a twister.

I do, in the back yard. 50's era cement bomb shelter with air filtration. Dry as a bone year round, temp hangs at 63-65 year round. There's a live outlet I use fo power the chicken coop's water heater in winter. The air pump runs by hand or the power outlet, and has an old filter inline on the intake, and the entrance is baffled. All cement.

Ya, sad. Our house has a full basement with food storage room, but ya. Sad to just have it sit there.... Plans are to make a workshop out of it.
